Julius Kühn Institute – Research on Wild Bees

The Julius Kühn Institute (JKI) addresses key questions such as: Which factors positively influence the health and resilience of honeybees and wild bees? What structural measures can be implemented in conventional and organic agriculture, as well as in urban environments, to improve their habitats and food sources?

One of the core responsibilities of the JKI’s Institute for Bee Protection is to investigate cases of bee poisoning and to conduct research in the field of bee protection. Both honeybees and wild bees are of critical importance to agriculture and nature due to their essential role in the pollination of cultivated and wild plants. Protecting these bee species is therefore of high societal relevance.

In addition to the JKI, the Thünen Institute also conducts research on wild bees.
