City, Countryside, Flow of Time – 300,000 Years of Regional History – Braunschweigisches Landesmuseum
The Braunschweigisches Landesmuseum presents 300,000 years of regional history. At the Landesmuseum Hinter Aegidien, visitors will find the Jewish Museum, opened in 2021, featuring the almost completely preserved Baroque interior of the Hornburg Synagogue, which has been safeguarded there for over 100 years.In the church of St. Ulrici-Brüdern, visitors are invited to embark on a journey through medieval Braunschweig, with numerous interactive stations that allow them to experience the era with all their senses.The main building at Braunschweig’s Burgplatz, the historic Vieweghaus, is currently closed for renovation and is expected to reopen in 2028.
Research Questions
Museums are research institutions. Through continuous research of their collections, scientifically sound exhibitions can be ensured and their content conveyed. Within the framework of research projects and in cooperation with universities and other institutions, the scientists working at the Brunswick State Museum constantly create new knowledge – with new discoveries not excluded!
