Participation Through Technology

Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences – Participation and Care Research

“Participation and Care Research” is an interdisciplinary research field at Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences. Assistive technologies open up new possibilities for social participation by helping people with disabilities lead more independent and self-determined lives. They also improve healthcare by supporting nurses and caregivers: for example, robots powered by artificial intelligence can take over routine tasks. This allows healthcare professionals to devote more time to the human aspects of care, which often come too short in everyday practice.

At Ostfalia University, 16 professors are currently engaged in this field of research, which spans disciplines such as social sciences, engineering, health, law, and economics. Key research priorities include: Healthcare provision – analyzing structures, processes, and outcomes in health systems. Technical and social solutions – developing innovations that enhance participation opportunities for organizations and vulnerable individuals.
