Impressions from the Science Salon 2023

On May 10th of this year, the Science Salon entered its second round at the TRAFO Hub. Unlike other dialogue formats, the exchange was not intended to take place in large groups or moderated discussion rounds, but rather at individual tables in the form of parallel
one-on-one conversations between the participants.

“Great format, I’m looking forward to next year!”

The perfect opportunity to engage with researchers from the region, as in four rounds, 30 scientists were available for a 15-minute one-on-one exchange. The researchers explained the impact of their research on future developments or discussed questions brought up by their respective counterparts.
Those who did not wish to participate in discussions themselves could listen in at selected tables via headphones. In total, over a hundred people attended the evening.
After a welcome by Mayor Thorsten Kornblum, the event began. For the subsequent exchange, visitors could book a free ticket.
Content-wise, a wide range of topics was covered due to the various research focuses of the
member institutions (e.g., digitalization, art in the 21st century, infectious diseases, sustainable agriculture, etc.).

“It was a really nice event.”

The slots were quickly booked out, and those who needed a short break could network with others over pasta and burgers in a relaxed atmosphere.
The feedback collected afterwards also confirmed the success of the evening. A majority of respondents rated the Salon as personally useful. We are delighted by such wonderful feedback and the successful evening!

In our recap, you can relive the evening and experience its atmosphere once again.

We thank all scientists and visitors for this wonderful evening.
