They report on their work on the first Germany-wide bee monitoring program and the role of citizen participation in it.

In the nineteenth episode, Dr. Tobias Robert is our guest. He talks about his research on adhesives and binders at the Fraunhofer Institute for Wood Research and reveals where polymers are hidden that are not immediately apparent.

In the latest episode, Bärbel Tiemeyer, a moor researcher at the Thünen Institute, explains why we need to take care of wetlands – and why agriculture is not solely responsible. She also reveals how rewetting moor soils can help stop CO2 emissions and which moor excursions are worthwhile in the Braunschweig region.

In the latest episode of the science podcast “Forsch!” – Science in Conversation, Insa Thiele-Eich is our guest. She is training as an aspiring astronaut for a flight to the International Space Station ISS. In the conversation, she talks about the role a multi-day cave hike played, why being well-rounded is better suited for such a mission than being an isolated talent, and whether there would be anything that could deter her from this historic flight.

In the latest episode of the science podcast “Forsch!” – Science in Conversation, Martin Scheidt, a research associate at the Institute for Railway Systems and Transportation Safety is our guest. In conversation with moderator Dr. Jeremias Othman, he discusses state and market failures concerning Deutsche Bahn, explores what solutions research offers, and provides suggestions on how we can approach our private travels relaxed despite delays and train cancellations.

In the latest episode of the science podcast “Forsch!”, Dr. Andreas Weich debunks prejudices against our education system and children’s learning success. He reveals why we should more often reflect on the use of digital media, how meaningful participatory learning can look in the digital age, and what all of this has to do with the concept of resilience, with Google, Microsoft, Apple, and adaptive learning systems.

Brain researcher Martin Korte from TU Braunschweig explains what keeps the brain active, why you don’t have to worry if you no longer remember the name of a former classmate, and why one should exchange crossword puzzles for a travel ticket.

In the sixth “Forsch!” episode, Dr. des. Jeremias Othman (ForschungRegion Braunschweig) interviews happiness researcher Tobias Rahm from the Institute for Educational Psychology at the Technical University of Braunschweig. He explains what happiness is, how we can measure it, and what we as individuals and as a society can do to become happier.

In the fifth “Forsch!” episode, BZ science reporter Andreas Eberhard and Jeremias Othman (ForschungRegion Braunschweig) interview computer scientist Ina Schiering from Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences in Wolfenbüttel. The IT security specialist explains the objectives of data protection and why the protection of our digital fundamental rights is becoming increasingly important.
